- Distance: 10k
- When: October 15th, 2017
- Race Start: 9:00am
- Where: 7th Mountain Resort in Bend, Oregon
The Dirty 10k starts and finishes at the 7th Mountain Resort and follows the same course as the Super Dave's Down & Dirty Half but just turns around a little sooner. With the exception of the parking area at the Inn itself the course is all dirt. The course is made up of single track and dirt roads. Hills are of course on tap for this race. The first half is largely dirt roads with lots of room for passing. You get some sweet singltrack descending back towards the Inn of the Seventh. I won’t say it is all downhill back to the finish but minus a surprise or two it is a negative split for sure. I think the course is best summed up by course record holder Max King who said when asked what he thought of the half marathon course he simply replied “tough”. Make no mistake this is a fun trail run with lots of character. One way to look at it is the shorter course gets you to the tasty Deschutes Brewery recovery drink a little sooner.
For safety reasons, if you cannot complete the course in under 4 hours you will be asked to stop and accept transport to the finish. Awards will be given to top three overall male and female as well as overall master, master male and female.
Aid stations will be located along the course with water and electrolyte drink. Weather in October is usually cool but be prepared for anything as Central Oregon weather can be very unpredictable. IF YOU USE GELS DO NOT THROW EMPTY PACKAGES ON THE GROUND. IF REPORTED YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! I hate seeing gel packs on the ground when I am on the trails so don’t be that person and dispose of your trash responsibly.
