Going to the Mac

Going over to run the Macdonald Forest 15k trail race in Corvallis Oregon this weekend. This is a really great trail race that is a challenge for sure. over 1500 ft of climbing over the 15k so it is a tough grunt but satisfying nevertheless. If you are ever looking for a great low key trail run in a pretty cool forest sign up for this one as it is a great one.

I am a touch unpreparred for this weekend but it will be fun to just get back into the race scene in a low key fashion with no expectations. I have done this race many times and know the course really well so I know that if one goes out too hard the trail will chew you up and spit you out into a pool of your own juices. I plan to run the first two thirds very conservatively then survey the scene and maybe let it hang out a little at the end. This is more of a race not to race just to get out and get one under the belt. Hoping the seed takes and it leads to some more running as we head into winter here in Bend, Or. I always tend to run more during the winter as the summer is so busy with races, mountain biking and family fun it doesnt’ leave much time for running. Hoping to get into form for a race or two in the spring before race directing starts infringing on my spare time. Fall and Spring are such great times to hit the trails here in Central Oregon so I am hoping to get some miles in to take advantage of this great time of year.

Hope you are all getting out on the trails this fall.
