On borrowed time

We are staring December in the face here in Central Oregon and have been enjoying some unseasonably warm and dry weather. Trails for the most part down low are in amazing shape especially considering the time of year. Being the seasoned Central Oregonian I know better than to think that this is going to last. Right now every day without snow and cold is a gift and we should all be taking full advantage. I am as excited as the next guy to strap on some skis and hit the mountains when the time comes but right now the trails are in such good shape and the snow cover up high is less than ideal so I have been trying to run and mountain bike as much as time allows.

The picture below is from a mtb ride this past Sunday (Nov 27th) on Horse Ridge trail system just east of Bend. Usually this is a hot spot in the winter as it tends to be clear and the lack of tree cover lets what winter sun is available in February warm you as best it can. I was amazed to find it completely clear and even a little on the dry side. So wherever you are I hope you are having fun outside and if you are in Oregon get out there as this can’t last forever.

Peace out, sd

A little past and present and a little future

A vet kicking ass

Happy Veterans Day everyone! This is hands down the earliest I have ever put out a upcoming schedule so this could be the year I get a teeny bit more organized on the communication front. It is also way late for a wrap up so balance ain’t all it’s cracked up to be. I look forward to seeing you all again and hopefully seeing some new faces at the races.

2011 was a great year and here at Superfit Productions things are already ramping up for 2012. Before talking too much about 2012 I would like to thank any and all who came out and participated, volunteered and cheered any of the events from the past year. Without these folks coming out races no matter where they are would never happen.

For 2012 we have largely the same schedule with a couple of changes. For the Flagline Trail Fest we are eliminating the shorter race courses from 2011. Going forward there will only be two options for the festival. Of course the 50k and a NEW half marathon called the High Alpine Half. The course will share the backside of the 50k course and will be a vast improvement in terrain, views, support, and just about every aspect when compared to the Bachelor Butte Half from 2011. Also the Dirty 2nd Half will be renamed to something else and be moved more to the end of the month of October to get out of the way of the event crazy end of September and first two weekends of October.

Other than that I may throw out some new races but they are still in the planning stage for right now but I am hopeful that they will become a reality so stay tuned for more info.
